Building on the Baku boom
AZAD IBRAHIMOV
AZAD IBRAHIMOV
Director of Ant Inshaat Repair Building Ltd
INTERVIEW

owhere is the nation’s construction boom more evident than in its capital, Baku. Now one of the most dynamic non-oil sectors of the economy, the surge in the construction industry is visible throughout the city, where new buildings are springing up so fast and furious that the country’s cement suppliers can barely keep pace. Baku’s transformation into the administrative and political heart of the South-Caucasian region is drawing an influx of immigrants not only from other national regions, but also from neighboring countries – a trend that is set to continue for another two years minimum.

Established in 2002, Ant Inshaat Repair Building Ltd. is Azerbaijan’s leading construction company. It not only focuses on the construction of residential and public buildings, but also has activities in interior furnishings. The company has a successful furniture manufacturing division that produces both residential and office furniture, as well as interior doors, windows and floors.

‘Step by step, we are becoming a completely integrated company’

“We opened a furniture factory a year ago and we are now working on building a cement factory to manufacture our own cement. So step by step, we are becoming a completely integrated company,” states Ant Inshaat Director Azad Ibrahimov (INTERVIEW).

Ant Inshaat currently has more than twenty new projects under way.

Projects to date carried out by the company have included four individual residential apartment buildings as well as a large residential complex consisting of seven ten-story buildings. Today, Ant Inshaat has more than twenty projects under way, including two new residential complexes and five residential apartment buildings. It is also contracted to construct a building for the Azerbaijan State Economic University.

ISO 9001 certified, Ant Inshaat places a high priority on quality construction and continually looks at ways to improve its equipment, technology and final product. “We pay very close attention to the technology we use, and work with leading international companies to have the best expertise on our projects, such as our collaboration with Liebherr Export of Germany on the purchase and operation of our concrete production plant,” says the director.

“We would like to see more American companies in Azerbaijan in order to further modernize the construction industry and upgrade our standards, as we are still seen as using an old Soviet style,” comments Mr. Ibrahimov. “At Ant Inshaat, it is very important for us to meet international standards. We would definitely like to collaborate more with American companies.”
