Tourism Director of Guayaquil
|
IRECTOR
of Tourism, International Relations and Competitiveness
for Guayaquil, Joseph Garzozi is the man behind the
light city campaign, a pioneer project in
the promotion of destinations that require light travel
only. He is also a key figure in the development of
Guayaquils growing business tourism sector. Here
he speaks on the citys many advantages as a destination
for international events.
Why
you think organizers should choose Guayaquil, or Ecuador,
as the location for their event?
As an international conference
and event destination, Guayaquil has a privileged location.
Its in a country that is situated in the middle
of the world, halfway between the large centers and
cities where the business of events planning takes place
in both hemispheres. Because of its location, Guayaquil
is able to offer many flights that in terms of time,
distance and price are extremely reasonable and convenient.
What
time of the year is best for planning an event?
To Guayaquils geographical
convenience as a business tourism center we can add
a tropical year-round climate which allows participants
to travel light in terms of personal luggage and better
carry the professional materials they must bring with
them. They can enjoy pre- and post-event tours without
having to worry about what the weather will be like.
This includes tours to the beach areas surrounding Guayaquil.
Are there any issues in terms of travel to and within
the city and the region that organizers must take into
account?
Guayaquil is a seaport and
it boasts an international airport. Both operate 24
hours a day, 365 days a year due to a year-round pleasant
climate and advantageous geographical location, and
they can guarantee service to event organizers in terms
of transport and mobilization.

The colorful city oozes charm, much to the delight
of visitors.

What
is the level and quality of infrastructure for hosting
large events?
Guayaquil has the necessary
infrastructure for all types of events. It boasts the
latest technological advances in transportation and
communications and the latest generation of technology
in audiovisual equipment and translation.
How
would you sum up Guayaquils attractions as a center
for international events?
Quality of services, a privileged
natural environment, architecture, culture, museums,
commercial centers, hotels, restaurants, nightclubs,
casinos Guayaquil has it all. Organizers should
not have any doubt about planning their next event here.
All the attendees will be captivated by the magic of
the South Pacific and of our city.
